Here is a picture from a few months ago, but it’s so cute I had to post it now.

This is Sara Hickman, in flippers, and my friend Pam Schubert bringing breakfast in bed before Sara sang (and I got to sing backup) for a lovely remembrance service for Pam and Dirk Schubert’s friend. Few people could pull off flippers, but Sara looks dashing.

I promised pictures of Austin and finally uploaded a few. Here they are:
Here’s the special water that was in my room at the San Jose Hotel.
I felt immediately welcome! Here are Mark Hallman and bass player Wheat Bailey in the control room at Congress House:
Here is Ned, Mark’s assistant, whose head I unfortunately cut off:
Here is the bulletin board at Congress House with a picture of Tom Russell, Andy Hardin and Nanci Griffith that was taken on the day they recorded my song “Yosemite.”
And finally, here is a picture of the Ani DiFranco door jam – Ani’s Mixing board masking tapes which make a lovely room decor!

Couple musical suggestions – have you heard Sufjan Stevens’ “Come on Feel the Illinoise?” He has to be one of the most creative people I’ve ever encountered. It’s a song cycle all about Illinois that is just so weird and cool. He also did Michigan.
Apparently he plans on doing all the states, although I hope he has some signficant funding, because fifty albums requiring massive amounts of research is going to require some time and money! But check it out – this album is really, really, wonderful.
Also, I’ve been listening to Matt the Electrician.
He opened for Bob Schneider at the Roxy a couple of weeks ago and was GREAT! I guess there is no lack of incredible musicians from Austin.
